Rachel represents children’s fiction and non-fiction up to YA and crossover. Please note, she is not currently accepting picture book submissions. Before joining The Blair Partnership she was editorial director at Macmillan Children’s Books, working with authors such as Frances Hardinge, Chris Riddell and Tomi Adeyemi.
Rachel is looking for ambitious storytelling, a bold approach to structure and voice and a fresh take on genre, and she’s particularly interested in submissions from author/illustrators and people from underrepresented and marginalised communities. She is looking for ROMANCE as the primary focus in anything YA – and she would really like high concept, diverse contemporary YA romance of the sort that will launch a thousand ships. She likes horror and thrillers (or a combination of both, especially with a twist), hooky YA fantasy/speculative (but only with excellent world building with a simple, clever pitch), hilarious middle grade, bold graphic picture books, and anything that has the potential to jump off the page and onto the screen.
