My curtains are open, the light floods my room.
My eyes are not ready to rise from the gloom.
But Mummy is smiling, she tickles my cheek.
From downstairs my ears hear a SQUEAK and a CREAK.

The floorboards are groaning, our cases are stacked,
As Daddy says jokingly, ‘Everything packed?’
They laugh with excitement–
As I turn away.
I don’t want to go on a hot holiday!
