For the 2026 novel competition, we’re delighted to offer 20 free places for writers who are in receipt of state benefits, available on a first‑come, first‑served basis. These places have been generously funded by individual donors. To help us support as many writers as possible, each writer may claim only one free entry if they secure one of these sponsored places. No proof of eligibility is required.
If you would like to apply, please email us at hello@searchlightawards.co.uk confirming that you are currently in receipt of state benefits. If places are still available, we will send you a voucher code to use on the entry form.
